Inside the Music Matters forum - June 4, 2008
Buzzworthy favorite
Bob Lefsetz is attending
The Asia Pacific Music Forum (Music Matters) this week in Hong Kong. How am I not at this event?
Bob is slated to speak Thursday (is it Thursday in Hong Kong already?) to attendees in a discussion entitled
Letter to America, where he will 'share his views on what American can learn (if anything) from the people, companies and stories surrounding the Asia Pacific music business and insights from the other side of the pond.'
On his
Blog you can catch up with all the Music Matters action – including Bob's take on
Paul McGuinness’ (U2's manager) opening keynote address.
Paul McGuinness’ heart is certainly in the right place, rights holders should be paid, but his message is delivered in such a ham-fisted, back alley, contemptuous way as to undermine his complete argument. The music business has historically been one of intimidation, where a gun is a more important asset than a lawyer, what the technological revolution promises is a transparency the old guard hates.
