User-generated Video to Become Billion Dollar Industry in Next 5 Years - May 13, 2008
The growth of user-generated video in the Chinese market will help grow the business to $1.19 billion in worldwide revenues by 2012, according to a
new report "User-Generated Video, A Global Strategy for You" by research firm In-Stat.
Mobile phone users are likely to be the biggest contributors to the user-generated market, both financially and in terms of supplying content, according to the report.
In-Stat says users are demanding higher quality content in the form of HD video and bigger file sizes, which will place greater demands on bandwidth.
China is the second-largest market for user-generated video, behind the U.S., according to In-Stat.
By 2012, In-Stat predicts 160 billion user-generated videos will be streamed worldwide.
