Don’t look for the answer in this report from iSuppli, which basically poses the question of whether Blu-ray will be the next-generation of DVD or Laserdisc.
In “Toshiba’s HD-DVD Exit: a Pyrrhic Victory for Blu-ray?”ISuppli says Blu still faces competition from digital downloads. Player prices remain highish ($400 isn’t anything near where they were just a year ago but they’re still way above upconverting players, which have taken off.)
There are lots of questions in this report like will Microsoft put out Blu-ray drives for the Xbox 360, but I’m not sure what’s new here. iSuppli hasn’t updated its sales predictions for the Blu-ray format since the HD DVD fall-out.
