We all know online video is growing, but a new report shows online video viewing increased by 1 billion (yeah, billion) views a month between January and December of 2007.
Research and Markets found that about 3.2 billion videos were viewed in Dec. 2007, up from 2.4 billion videos January 2007. On average, 2.8 billion online videos were viewed each month during 2007, according to the report "Online Video 2007 - 2011: Views, Category Share and Usage Analytics."
The video universe expanded last year, with Disney, Viacom, Time Warner, NBC Universal and other major broadcasters and cable channels putting more video online. Sites operated by those companies captured a significant share of the online audience, researchers found.
Not too surprising that most of the videos, 93.8%, were watched through a broadband connection. -- J.N.
