Video streaming site Hulu.com has gotten lots of attention since its launch earlier this year thanks in large part to its major media backers NBC Universal and News Corp., but few Americans know it exists, according to a new report.
The report, according to Television Week, which got it exclusive from Solutions Research Group, found that 15% of Americans know about Hulu. Hulu users tend to be younger and more male than the general population with the average age 32 and two-thirds male. Half of users, 51% are between the ages of 12 and 29. And even more appealing to advertisers, their average income is 22% above the average American.
Those that do use the service to find episodes of new shows they missed as well as older shows. They also like that it's free. The biggest complaint is that the site doesn't feature all episodes of all current shows. -- J.N.
