Its quarterly profit rose to $36.9 million, or 20 cents per share, from $19.2 million, or 11 cents a share, a year earlier.
Adjusted income rose to 41 cents per share from 28 cents a share a year earlier, exceeding analysts' expectations of 39 cents a share.
Quarterly revenue rose 34 percent to $187.0 million from $139.3 million, helped by the growing popularity of video and other bandwidth-heavy Internet services, Akamai said.
